Scientific research, as well as subdepartment courses are focused on dietary assessment of target populations and development of tools for that purpose.
Subdepartment courses are focused on providing information on the importance of balanced nutrition in health protection and promotion, as well as in nutrition-related diseases prevention. General knowledge on nutrient and bioactive compound sources combined with knowledge on the gastrointestinal tract anatomy, physiology of digestion, and impact of bioactive compounds in foods on human body provide possibilities for diet planning of different population groups. Students will be also educated which methods can be applied for dietary assessment of individuals and groups.

- assessment of nutritional status of individuals and groups
- application of dietary assessment methods
- application of balanced nutrition principles to the human life cycle
- diet planning for different health problems
